TAOS ART MUSEUM 6th ANNUAL GALA AUCTION

There will be a Best of Show prize of $500 for an artist!

The artist may receive up to 30% of the proceeds and the remainder will benefit the Taos Art Museum. Remember, the museum not only sustains the legacy of the early Taos artists, it creates and promotes interest in current Taos art. Many artists generously take a very low percentage to cover only their costs. You may select a reserve and/or starting bid but too high a starting price discourages bidders so I encourage you to consider a modest reserve.

How do I win Best of Show?
Our Gala attendees will vote the night of the event, Saturday August 28, 2010. The artist whose artwork gets the most votes, wins a $500 cash prize.

Do I need to have my work framed?
All donated artwork must be ready to display.

What if my artwork does not sell at the event?
Our participants are poised to purchase, but in the event that a piece of art does not secure its minimum bid, it will be returned to the artist. The artist must pick up their unsold artwork no later than one month following the event (or make special arrangements).

Do I have the option for a percentage return on my work?
Yes, as the artist or gallery donating artwork. In response to feedback from artists and gallery owners in the community, we have created the option of the artist or gallery can select a percentage of up to 30% of the purchase price for his or her share if the piece is selected for the silent auction. In the previous years many artists generously asked for very low percentages, wanting to cover their costs only. Many artists elect to donate the entire amount. We ask you to consider the greatest amount you can possibly afford to remain as a donation to TAM. Please note: You must complete a separate application form and include the retail value and minimum reserve bid for each piece of art submitted.

Can I let my collectors know about this event?
TAM is here to support you in helping us promote this event. We would be pleased if you would mail out invitations provided by TAM to your constituents (postage paid by TAM, limit 5 per artist/gallery). Please provide TAM with names and addresses of those you would like to receive an invitation for the Gala. We anticipate the possibility of having too many items for the number of collectors we can accommodate, so our selection committee will carefully assess the quality and suitability of contributions, and reserves the right to decline contributions at their discretion.

Please note: If you earn $600 or more from the sale of your submitted artwork, it will be necessary for you to fill out a W-9 Form before receiving your payout.

To ensure participation as well as possible press, submissions must be received at TAM on or before Wednesday, July 16, 2010.

Online submission is preferred. You may choose, however, to use the form below. Simply print it out, complete it, and send it along with artist biography and a photograph of the artwork, to Taos Art Museum, ATTN: Art Auction Committee, 227 Paseo del Pueblo Norte, Taos, NM 87571.
