WELCOME
A Russian Night in Taos is again the theme for this year's Gala Auction. The annual black tie and boots gala is one of the most anticipated events in Northern New Mexico. The event will feature an elegant dinner, live auction, silent auction and dancing. "Because of the quality of the art, patrons attend from all over the country," says chair Nat Troy. "Artists like Jerry Jordan, Zhiwei Tu, Leigh Gusterson, Mary Dolph Wood, Walt Gonske, and Jonathan Sobol have committed major works to this auction and we expect to have more than one hundred pieces before the Gala."
Tickets start at $175 and may be purchased in advance at the museum. Items may be viewed beginning mid-July in the Fechin Studio and Fechin House or by clicking here. Arrangements for phone−in auction bids can be made by contacting 575.758.2690.
BACKGROUND AND HISTORY
The Taos Art Museum is housed in the home of Nicolai Fechin (Fechin House), who with his family moved to Taos in 1927. Born in Russia, Fechin is one of the most important portrait painters of the 20th Century. His paintings of Native Americans and of the New Mexico desert landscape are considered among his best works.
The Taos Art Museum is located just two blocks from the Historic Taos Plaza, at 227 Paseo del Pueblo Norte in Taos, New Mexico. Call the museum at 575.758.2690.
